What we do?

Advocates for Youth Philippines Foundation disseminates information that encourages healthy and responsible decisions among the youth. It works in collaboration with private corporations, schools, other non-profit organizations and international institutions to integrate efforts and develop alliances to address sexual health concerns of the youth.

A4Y actively promotes cause marketing with private companies by organizing events and activities that highlight the need for prevention of teen pregnancy, STD and HIV/AIDS. Road shows, symposium, expositions, and other campaign programs are organized targeting the youth, parents and their communities.

By collaborating with private corporations on partnership programs, A4Y gets companies that market products to the youth to sponsor programs on issues affecting the wellbeing of the youth. In this way, A4Y encourages Corporate Social Responsibility.

Partners & Donors

A4Y Philippines Foundation works in collaboration with private corporations, schools, other non-profit organizations and international institutions to integrate efforts and develop alliances to address sexual health issues that concerns the youth.

A4Y has actively promoted cause marketing with private companies through events and activities (Road shows, symposiums, participation in World Population Day, World AIDS Day, etc) that directly exhort the prevention of teen pregnancy, STD and HIV/AIDS to an audience of teenagers and their parents.

A4Y collaborates with companies that market products to the youth to meet and sustain these campaign objectives.

Advocates for Youth (A4Y) is a foundation that envisions the Filipino youth having a productive life free from teen pregnancy and STDs/STIs/HIV-AIDS by empowering them to take responsible decisions on sexual health and relationships.

A4Y’s founder, Ms. Cyndy Tan Jarabata, strongly feels that the early and uninformed sexual debut among teenagers is a universal concern as it inevitably derails young lives. The lack of proper communication in homes coupled with a deficit of reliable knowledge or information and misleading media messages have negatively impacted our youth. Only good parental communication with teenagers and the access of reliable information on various aspects of growing up will help our youth make responsible decisions on sexual health and relationships.

A4Y has worked with society on three distinct levels:

  • Teen Awareness on issues of sexual health, relationships and responsibility: Disseminating information that encourages healthy and responsible sexual decisions has been A4Y’s predominant priority.
  • Parental Involvement in the lives of their teenagers in terms of communication, discipline and empathy: A4Y has conducted several parenting forums that encourage a stronger bond with adolescents and teenagers.
  • Corporate Social Responsibility: Involvement of private corporations and policymakers as stakeholders in a cause that affects our youth's future.

Campaign Objectives & Strategies:

  • Build a comprehensive youth communication network that gives access to information on prevention of teen pregnancy, life skills, relationships and current youth issues.
  • Encourage parents, families and communities to develop awareness on youth issues and foster their commitment and direct involvement.
  • Identify and implement specific programs tailored to needs and concerns of the youth.
  • Engage the private sector and corporations to invest in programs that benefits the youth.
  • Forge strong partnership with media in the awareness campaigns.
  • Continue sourcing new information to support communication campaign through non-traditional and creative ways to attract the youth.
  • Stimulate interest and support from the state and local government.
  • Build 'Youth Clubhouses' that can operate as computer training schools and youth activity centers.
